Super Protein Shake

The main benefit of protein shakes is the fuel they provide to help build up strength after training. 

Research shows that protein supplements, along with a strength training routine, build and conserve muscle tissue as well as increase strength.

While a calorie deficit is the most important part of losing weight (burning more calories than you eat), making your diet higher in protein can help to preserve your muscle mass and target fat loss.   

Additionally, protein slows down the digestive process, which gives you a feeling of being full longer after you eat. This can decrease overeating and help with weight loss.

We all want to avoid those post-workout feeling and ensuring you’re getting enough protein can help with that. Protein helps to rebuild muscle after a workout by muscle protein synthesis, so that they’re ready to take on your next workout, and having a hit of protein before bed can improve this.

Protein Shake Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup frozen strawberries and bananas any kind of fruit works
  • 1 serving vanilla protein powder we used Garden of Life Whey
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt we used 2%
  • 1/2 – 1 cup plain, unsweetened almond milk

INSTRUCTIONS 

  • Add all of the ingredients into a high-speed blender.
  • Blend on high for 1 minute, stopping to scrape the sides, if needed. Add more almond milk to thin things out as needed.
  • Serve immediately.
