The Beauty Power of Avocado

Avocado apparently has skin protecting properties and its cool because in a lot of products, they list avocado then charge a bundle so here is how a little avocado under the eye area will enhance the skin.

Avocado is particularly effective for the delicate undereye area because its unique composition directly addresses the structural needs of that specific skin.

Intense Barrier Repair (Oleic Acid)

The skin under the eyes is the thinnest on the entire body and lacks the oil glands found elsewhere on the face. Avocado is rich in Oleic Acid, a monounsaturated fatty acid that mimics the skin’s natural sebum. It creates a breathable protective seal that prevents “Trans-Epidermal Water Loss” (TEWL), keeping the area from becoming crepey and dry.

Deep Penetration of Vitamin E

Unlike many synthetic oils that sit on top of the skin, avocado oil is one of the few plant oils that can penetrate the dermis. It delivers a concentrated dose of Vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals caused by UV exposure and pollution. This helps preserve the collagen and elastin fibers that keep the undereye area firm.

Reducing Discoloration (Vitamin K)

While dark circles are often genetic or caused by sleep deprivation, they can also be exacerbated by poor circulation. Avocado contains trace amounts of Vitamin K, which is widely recognized in clinical skincare for its ability to help regulate blood clotting and strengthen capillary walls. This can subtly help minimize the “blue” or “purple” tint seen in thin undereye skin.

Phytosterols for “Plumping”

Avocados contain Phytosterols, which are plant-based compounds that help stimulate skin cell regeneration. When applied to the orbital bone area, these compounds help “plump” the skin’s surface, making fine lines and “crow’s feet” appear less visible by physically filling the micro-crevices of the skin with moisture.

Lutein Protection

Avocados are a rare fruit source of Lutein, a carotenoid that helps filter out high-energy visible light (blue light) from screens and the sun. Since we spend so much time looking at devices, this added layer of oxidative protection helps prevent the premature aging specifically associated with digital eye strain.
