Bel Air Modern Luxury Marble Kitchen Design
The design for this luxury kitchen focused on allowing the different patterns in the marble to dictate which colors were going to be used. Often a piece intended for a room becomes the inspiration for color distribution, such as a painting, and here its the marble countertops. In design, there is a technique referred to as balance which uses color or patterns to keep the room flowing. In order to achieve balance in a room, a pattern or color is placed in a room in different places so that the room is perceived to balance. Here, the marble countertop begins to balance the room when placed in the shelving. The shelf itself could have been entirely black but once the marble surface is placed and highlighted with shelf lighting, its now perceived to be a part of the kitchen. To recreate this room, I chose pendant lighting above the sink.
The Designer focused on very neutral tones creating a connection with the outside by taking some elements from the house into the dinning area. From this angle the designer chose to balance this part of the room by incorporating and emphasizing the color of the floor balanced by the walls. This room is balanced in both the marble and flooring. If the chairs were black, it would be saturated with that color in the room, as well as if the chairs were white. To re-create this room, I chose this seating that is identical in color tone with the flooring and walls.
