Lymphatic Yoga

These yoga poses help drain and clean the lymphatic system.

Supported Shoulder Stand (Sarvangasana)

This is considered one of the most powerful poses for the lymphatic system. By inverting the body, you allow gravity to drain lymph from the legs and lower torso into the upper lymph nodes for filtration.

  • How to: Lie on your back, lift your legs and hips, and support your lower back with your hands.

Primary Health Benefits

  • Lymphatic Drainage: As a powerful inversion, it uses gravity to drain lymph fluid from the legs and lower torso into the upper lymph nodes for filtration.
  • Improved Circulation: By inverting the body, it helps move blood back toward the heart and brain more efficiently.
  • Immune System Support: The movement and filtration of lymph fluid are essential for maintaining a healthy immune response.
  • Muscle Engagement: It requires and builds core and upper body strength to maintain the vertical position.

Seated Spinal Twist (Ardha Matsyendrasana)

Twisting poses create a “squeeze and release” effect on the internal organs and deep lymphatic vessels. This helps “wring out” the system and encourages fresh fluid to enter the tissues once the twist is released.

  • How to: Sit with legs extended, cross one foot over the opposite knee, and gently rotate your torso toward the bent leg.

Key Benefits

  • Organ Detoxification: The twisting motion creates a “squeeze and release” effect on your internal organs. This helps wring out stagnant blood and encourages fresh, oxygenated blood to enter the tissues once the twist is released.
  • Lymphatic Stimulation: By compressing the deep lymphatic vessels in the abdomen, this pose helps stimulate the movement of lymph fluid through the system.
  • Spinal Mobility: It helps maintain the natural rotation of the spine and can relieve tension in the lower back and shoulders.
  • Improved Digestion: The gentle pressure on the abdominal cavity can help stimulate the digestive tract, aiding in more efficient processing for picnics.

Super cool healing yoga poses.
