Bagel, Lox and Cream Cheese

Lox (Yiddish: לאַקס‎) is a fillet of brined salmon, that may or may not be smoked. Lox is frequently served on a bagel with cream cheese, and often garnished with tomato, sliced onion, cucumbers, and capers.

Recipe makes 4 Servings 

  • 8 Oz cream cheese 
  • 2 medium plain bagels, split in half horizontally 
  • 3 Oz H‑E‑B Select
  • Nova Smoked Salmon 
  • 1 Tbsp capers, chopped 
  • 1 Tsp fresh dill, lightly chopped or snipped 
  • 1 Tsp red onion, very thinly diced or sliced
  1. Soften cream cheese in the microwave for 20 to 30 seconds.
  2. Toast bagels to desired doneness.
  3. Spread bagel generously with cream cheese.
  4. Gently top with layers of smoked salmon. Finish with capers, fresh dill and red onion.
  5. Picnic ready.
