Jello is a super cool food that is perfect for picnics especially on a summer day. This recipe is for how to make jello from a packet and also how to make jello from scratch.
Jello from a Packet
- 1 3-ounce packet of Jello
- 1 cup hot water
- 1 cup cold water
- 1 to 2 cups fresh fruit (optional)
- Whisk together 1 cup of hot water with 1 packet of jello in a large bowl.
- Keep whisking until no powdery granules remain, about two minutes.
- Add 1 cup of cold water into the mixture.
- Pour the mixture into your desired mold and add some fruit, if desired.
- Place into the refrigerator and wait until it sets, at least three hours.
- De-mold the jello and transfer it to a serving plate.
- Dip the mold all the way up to its rim in warm water, then flip the jello out of its mold and onto a plate. If it doesn’t come out easily, dip the mold into warm water for another 10 seconds.
- Jello picnic ready.
Jello from Scratch
- 1½ cups fruit juice
- ¼ cup cool water
- ¼ cup hot water
- 1 tablespoon gelatin
- 1 to 2 cups fresh fruit (optional)
- Agave nectar, honey, stevia, sugar, etc (to taste, optional)
- Sprinkle the gelatin on ¼ cup of cold water and stir. Pour the cold water into measuring cup, then sprinkle the gelatin over it. Stir it briskly until the gelatin thickens.
- Stir in ¼ cup of hot water.
- Add 1½ cup of fruit juice.
- Pour the mixture into your desired mold and add some fruit.
- Cover the jello, then refrigerate it for at least 2 to 3 hours.
- De-mold the jello and serve on a picnic.
Fresh fruit can be added while preparing the Jello.
